Job Placement and Training Program

  • Do you live in Seminole County?

  • Un-employed or under-employed?

 

If you said yes to all four, please take a look at the training options below and contact our office if interested, before June 16, 2017.

 

OSHA training: Construction Site Safety in the Work Zone  

This course provides comprehensive health and safety training related to road construction work sites and ensures compliance with federal OSHA standards with expanded emphasis on worker safety.  Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an OSHA 10 hr Construction Industry Outreach Card.  This course is designed to concentrate on activities which generate the highest level of accidents and injuries in road construction and maintenance work zones. 

Each person who completes this class will receive an OSHA card.  Maximum of 30 students per class.

CDL EXAM PREP  This class is a one and a half day session designed to prepare individuals to take the state CDL written exam.  Participants will be led through the Model Commercial Driver License Manual, which covers vehicle safety, transporting cargo, the hazardous materials endorsement, the air brakes endorsement, the combination vehicles endorsement, and the tanker endorsement.

Course participants will also learn to perform the pre-trip inspection of a vehicle, which is required for the driving portion of the exam.  Minimum student number is 10; maximum is 25.

FIRST AID AND CPR  This class designed by the American Red Cross teaches participants how to offer first aid and CPR for infants, children and adults in an emergency until professional medical care is available. Successful participants will receive certification valid for 2 years.  Minimum number is 6 students; maximum is 10.

***Dates have not been set for the classes; we need to meet the minimum required students before the class can be scheduled. Class will be conducted at the Mission.
