Charlotte Harjo Scholarship 2018 Award Winners

The Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Trust Fund Board members sponsors a fund raiser in memory of long time tribal employee, Charlotte Harjo. Charlotte Harjo worked for over 15 years in the Judgment Fund office administering applications for Higher Education scholarships for tribal students.

To honor her dedicated service to the Judgment Fund, Trust Fund Board and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, a scholarship fund was established in her name and funds are raised to benefit a tribal citizen enrolled full-time in an institute of higher education during the spring of 2018.

The Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Trust Fund Board has selected and awarded two (2) Full-time Tribal members.  We would like to congratulate Ronalda Herrod and Art Washington.  Each recipient received $500.00 from the Charlotte Harjo Scholarship.

Ronalda Herrod is a member of the Ocese Band and is currently a Senior at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Herrod will be graduating in the Spring and Fall of 2018 with a double major with a Finance Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and minor in Energy Finance (Spring 2018), Accounting Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) (Fall 2018).

After graduation, Herrod plans to return to the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and help assist in the Finance department.  Herrod states that she wants to give back to the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma for assisting her education.  Mvto!

Art Washington is a member of the Tallahassee Band and is currently a Freshman at the Oklahoma City Community College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Washington’s major is Digital Cinema.

After graduation, Washington plans and enjoys assisting the Elders.  Washington is active and volunteers serving food to the Elderly.  He believes that it is very important to respect our Elders and help them as much as possible.  He volunteers at the Memorial Christian Church in Oklahoma City that hosts the Oklahoma County Senior Nutrition Program.  Washington has received experience and compassion in giving back to the community.  Washington states that with his degree, he will be able to turn his passion into a career. He understands the challenges of being successful in the film industry.  It will not be an easy path but with his determination, he knows that he will succeed.
