16th Annual Native Youth Preventing Diabetes Camp

Hello everyone, it is time for the Native Youth Preventing Diabetes Camp again this June. The Seminole Nation Diabetes Program sponsors 5 tribal youth between the ages of 8-12 years of age to attend this camp. Each child will receive a full diabetes screening, health screening, receive dietary education, physical fitness education, and be housed in cabins with other tribal youth from around Oklahoma based on their age group and gender for the entire week. 

The dates are June 12 – 16th.

Seminole Nation of Oklahoma Student Achievement Program

The Seminole Nation Student Achievement Program is a PILOT PROGRAM for tribal members between 4th and 12th grade who attend one of the ten schools in Seminole County, Bowlegs, Butner, Justice, Konawa, New Lima, Sasakwa, Seminole, Strother, Wewoka, and Varnum. The intended purpose of this program is not only to begin the process of an incentive to reward and promote academic achievement among our young Seminole tribal members but to also gather data to determine the estimated cost of an incentive program that reaches beyond the boundaries of Seminole County. One that all young Seminole tribal members may take part of.

Native youth apply NOW for the 2017 Food and Agriculture Leadership Summit!

Applications due April 11!

The Summit brings American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian youth to the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus for a ten-day educational experience.

The students, who represent tribes across Indian Country, engage in classroom learning and field trips, and received specialized legal and land use training geared toward Native farmers and ranchers.

The leadership building curriculum allows students an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, to enable them to continue their journey to becoming an advocate and leader for a resilient, robust and interconnected future in Indian Country food systems.
