Aquaponics/Hydroponics Tech
Position: Aquaponics and Hydroponics Technician
Reports To: Production Manager
Department: Agriculture/Food Sovereignty

Job Purpose:
The Aquaponics/Hydroponics Technician conducts activities in all aspects of greenhouse management, crop production, propagation, fertilizing, watering, fish farm management, pest control and disease management practices for overall health. The technicians construct, renovate, maintain and repair aquaponics and hydroponic structures and production areas under the direction of the Production Manager or greenhouse consultant.

Job Duties:
• Manage the daily operations of the tribe’s aquaponics and hydroponics facilities under instructions of Consultants, as necessary for the successful production operations.
• Work closely with the Production Manager to meet the goals of the agriculture production schedules.
• Work with student interns assigned to the facilities so they derive the full benefit of an internship in Aquaponics or Hydroponics.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
• Group facilitation skills.
• Strong ability to motivate others.
• Knowledge in growing techniques and able to be trained for specific areas of new plant production.

Work Environment:
• Work is performed in an interior environment, outside food production facilities, and area outdoor farms.

Physical Demands:
• Normal daily routines, may lift up to 50 pounds, bend and stand for long periods.
• To work in humid environments in greenhouses.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
• High School degree with Associate’s Degree preferred.
• To take additional college courses and training as necessary.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with ability to meet Seminole Nation liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.
• Must be able to pass background check, with no prior convictions and/or felonies.
• Must be able to comply with the Seminole Nation Drug Free Workplace policies.
