Treasury Accountant
Position: Treasury Accountant
Reports To: Treasurer
Department: Treasury

Job Purpose: To ensure accurate preparation and monitoring to the Seminole Nation Cash Receipts, Cash Balances, and Deposits.

Job Duties
• Ensures the accuracy of source documentation that may include, but not limited to, Cash Receipts, Deposits, and Transfers.
• Maintains accuracy of Financial Data and Reports by verifying Financial Transactions according to applicable Standard Policies and Procedures.
• Prepares timely and accurate cash balance reports for programs/departments as requested.
• Prepares and Assists with Annual Audit; will assist General Ledger (GL) Accountant in preparing reconciliations and Audit schedules as requested.
• Prepares Bank wires and transfers.
• Calculates, codes and enters transactions into the Financial System including Journal Entries and sub-system corrections.
• Assists programs/departments with discrepancy resolution, financial interpretation, and clarification of Accounting Policies and Procedures.
• Supports GL Accountant with providing documentation to ensure balance sheet accounts are properly classified and recorded at realizable value.
• Maintains internal financial controls including, but not limited to, cash receipts/disbursement ledgers, journal entries and cash receipts.
• Reconciles cash accounts against cash deposits.
• Executes General Depository Agreement and communicates and reviews results with Treasurer.
• Prepares cash needs report weekly for Treasurer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable Federal, State, County, and Local Laws, Regulations, and Requirements.
• Knowledge of Financial Control Systems and Methodology.
• Knowledge of Finance and Accounting Concepts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (MS Office).
• Skill in operating various Database/Accounting Software Programs.
• Skill in Statistical Compilations and Data Analysis.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with managers, staff members, prospective applicants, tribal officials and the public both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information as related to matters/material of sensitivity.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and organize work plans and priorities to assure timely submission of completed work.

Work Environment
• Work is performed in an office environment.
• Duties of the position will require some travel to facilities under the operation of the Seminole Nation.
• Evening, weekend, and/or holiday work may be required.

Supervision Responsibilities
• Provides work direction and leadership to Treasury Staff within the Department.
• Assist in training personnel on accounting systems, policies and procedures, and applicable Federal, State, Tribal Law and Regulations.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
▪ Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
▪ A minimum of one (1) year Accounting, Federal Grants/Contracts experience required.
▪ Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with ability to meet Seminole Nation liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.
▪ Must be able to pass background check, with no prior convictions and/or felonies.
▪ Must be able to comply with the Seminole Nation Drug Free Workplace policies.
